A Short Feature Film
(A
story of a sheep who gets a human life)
▲ Proper
Synopsis
A sheep to be sacrificed is promised a better life: a human
life.
It gets it and becomes a rich man, absorbed in his work
and little better off than a sheep. He misses his daughter's birthday
and is drifting apart from his wife.
Then he is led to a sacrifice of another sort: an encounter
with Calcutta's poor. When he reaches out to a man dying on the
street -- played by the director himself who ate one meal a day
for six months for the part -- he discovers real joy and becomes
a real human.
The faces of the poor are unforgettable. The director's
haunting song 'Aami Manush Hobar...' ('I claim to be a man...')
becomes an anthem for the soul's struggle.
