Young Director Keen on films with

Good Karma

 

“Its all about feelings,” says Korak Day. The young film director gives a special press preview of his latest short film My Karma at the Lighthouse cinema conference hall on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The film starring Arjun Chakraborty and Moon Moon Sen, is about a sacrificial goat which is reborn as a human . the 30 minutes film then moves on to the life of Chakraborty, a successful businessman who is obsessed with the idea of making money and more money , even as his family life lies in shambles.

 

But his materialistic life takes an about turn when he visits the Kalighat temple with wife Moon Moon and confronts everyday street side poverty. He stops thinks and decides that it will be good Karma on his part to use his recourses to alleviate the living conditions of the poor and the destitute.

 

Presented by Aamar Nijer - My Own Nijer, an organization that works in the sphere of social services, this is Day’s second venture after Kolkata’r Kali, another short film he made as a tribute to the city. A formal naval officer who has worked as a volunteer with Mother Teresa’s home for the destitute, Day requests the audiences not to judge My Karma on the technical qualities, but rather for its message. “ I have invested all my feelings while making the film and it is a product of how I see things. I would want people to see for the point it tries to put across,” says the director.

 

One of the director’s biggest challenge will be when he goes in for a commercial release of the film shortly, according to his plans. Asked weather audience at large will also relate to his deep feelings towards humane causes, Day sounded optimistic. As for now, My Karma is headed for Las Vegas and New York where it is slated screenings at different festivals.
