Correspondent Young
Director Keen on films with
Good Karma
Its all about
feelings, says Korak Day. The young film
director gives a special press preview of his
latest short film My Karma at the Lighthouse
cinema conference hall on Wednesday afternoon.
The film starring Arjun
Chakraborty and Moon Moon Sen, is about a
sacrificial goat which is reborn as a human . the
30 minutes film then moves on to the life of
Chakraborty, a successful businessman who is
obsessed with the idea of making money and more
money , even as his family life lies in shambles.
But his materialistic
life takes an about turn when he visits the
Kalighat temple with wife Moon Moon and confronts
everyday street side poverty. He stops thinks and
decides that it will be good Karma on his part to
use his recourses to alleviate the living
conditions of the poor and the destitute.
Presented by Aamar
Nijer - My Own Nijer, an organization that works
in the sphere of social services, this is
Days second venture after Kolkatar
Kali, another short film he made as a tribute to
the city. A formal naval officer who has worked
as a volunteer with Mother Teresas home for
the destitute, Day requests the audiences not to
judge My Karma on the technical qualities, but
rather for its message. I have invested
all my feelings while making the film and it is a
product of how I see things. I would want people
to see for the point it tries to put
across, says the director.
One of the
directors biggest challenge will be when he
goes in for a commercial release of the film
shortly, according to his plans. Asked weather
audience at large will also relate to his deep
feelings towards humane causes, Day sounded
optimistic. As for now, My Karma is headed for
Las Vegas and New York where it is slated
screenings at different festivals.
