There are lots of people on our Earth who may
be born in Palaces or Streets or all the range
which comes in between who feel that a Home
is all they need which will accept them as they
are and will Love them Eternally, Never endingly.
Many have been a part of this Bari from all
walks of life around the Earth. One such person
is Nitai who was a dying destitute and was also
mentally challenged. February 2003 we celebrated
his one year at Aamar Nijer Bari. Joy is what

4. We at Aamer Nijer
– My Own want to make a big family out of the whole
world where everybody is related to the other even
if they are not related by the external things of
blood, culture, country, religion, etc. We feel
that to have such a family which we can look up
to and feel proud of and reach out to whenever we
have a major fall.. is the most important necessity
of our heart. Many people either because of their
own faults and or other's faults, have to go through
this unbearable pain of the void or emptiness created
through not having a family, as we need and deserve.

5. Our teenagers
are a breed of human beings on whom, as adults we
often look down and do everything against them to
make them think that they are completely useless,
unworthy and a waste of time. But we never realize
that if we have a teenager around us whom we feel
to be all those useless things mentioned above,
then it is actually us, the adults, related to these
teenagers who are RESPONSIBLE for whatever strange
behavior they give us. Teenagers are the people
who are actually going through the greatest turmoil
in their lives due to the change from being a child
to an adult. This is the time when a child is growing
up to become a worthy adult. This is the time when
they need love, compassion, care, understanding
and role models and if we are not unworthy, useless
adults, then we have to give these teenagers all
these things which we ourselves needed as teenagers
once. If we feel we are worthy as adults, then each
teenager around us needs what we needed as teenagers.

6. Many times we
confuse god and religion or in other words we confuse
internal and external things. That is the difference
between the things we feel inside and the things
that are added upon us externally. There is a feeling
that in this world if we have one thing for ourselves,
then we do not have all the other things, which
the world has to offer. Since we have to cling on
to what we are used to having, we generally find
ourselves saying all the bad things about the things
that the other people have that is different from
what we have. This has been the major cause of all
the major wars, tensions, fights and the bad feelings
which we go through our whole lives whether we want
it or not. If we are comfortable with what we have,
then we do not have any problems with the truths
of other people. The way in which I have my personal
right to my truth, similarly the sooner I give the
similar right to another person for his or her own
truth. This is the difference between feeling god
inside ourselves and searching or trying to reach
it somewhere outside us externally.

NIJER TRAINING SCHOOLS (ANTS)
Our modern world
and its ways have many good things and many bad
things. It’s very important to make the complete
use of all the good things of our times or we fall
back. There are many people who “just cannot” use
even a little of those good things. So we who are
privileged otherwise have a moral responsibility
towards those for whom god has given us that privilege.
In this world many
of our Muslim women folk, those who are in India
and are in the poor and conservative families, are
actually the poorest of women in terms of basic
privileges, which everyone ought to have.
2002/ July 1st
was the day when Aamer Nijer - My Own started
a school for the above-mentioned women in such
an area of Kolkata.
In India the common
expression is that when you find a very dirty
area, you say that it is a Muslim area even
if it is not a Muslim area. It is just the common
accepted image, which is not always untrue.
But people generally would love to complain,
criticize and then move on, forgetting that
they may have a small responsibility towards
doing something about it if they are human beings.
Doing something is
generally the most difficult thing, so we always
end up mostly talking about it and that is all
we do about it and then we look for another
issue to talk about.

We also did
that. But then we decided TO GROW UP AND CHANGE
OUR BAD HABITS and start SOMETHING SMALL WITH A
BIG DREAM basically for our self-development.
We have started a few courses at the ANTS according
to the major needs there and also on our Earth.
Situation There:
1. There were many
girls who had a little education, because they had
these educations from some schools, which had no
option other than to care about the quantity and
not the quality of each student. Also, because of
the situations in the family, society and everything
surrounding these girls, they were either having
no confidence to go for any jobs whatsoever or any
possibility of qualifying for higher education.
And because of their conservative upbringing and
past religious tensions they were also unsure about
their capabilities and their own important place
in the development of the whole country. They were
used to being confined in their own small Islamic
country ‘locality’ within India.
2. Then there were
other girls who were poor enough to be left away
from all kinds of education and growth. This was
probably because of the big number of children in
each household. Maybe since they were to get married
one day, what was the use of giving them any education
or a way to earn their livelihood?
3. Everywhere was
full of dirt and was a mess, turning this place
into another ‘to-be-avoided’ slum.
So for the educated
girls, ANTS started an “English Spoken Confidently”
class which was basically designed to be an educational
class of humanity, confidence, leadership, concentration,
opening up, etc. All together giving them an ability
to speak out in English.

And for the uneducated
girls and the educated girls who want it, ANTS started
a “Zardozi Zindagi” class to give them ‘life through
Zardozi’.
Zardozi is a very
old and traditional way of doing hand embroidery
stitching with special needles and threads made
of silk and gold. It’s done on very-very big
frames where the whole cloth is a big size to
fit. This was the most popular and high-demand
embroidery pattern used in all the traditionally
rich and famous Indian clothes of the past.
Zardozi done by women is naturally the best
but in the modern times, men have completely
taken over it. They have put their women
inside under home restrictions only to produce
many-many children. This area is supposed to
be the richest in doing Zardozi by its artwork,
in the East. It was difficult to get a teacher
to teach these girls as no man wanted girls
to learn it but as god is my General Manager,
so we got someone who is very efficient.
Later we opened ANTs to children and youths
whose parents couldn't afford to send them to
school. Now ANTS has 200 students and two schools
in different locations. |

AAMAR
NIJER SHOWS
This can be the most
important way to generate resourses for all the
works and projects of Aamar Nijer - My Own.
This idea of the
show will actually be in two parts. One part
involves completely Commercial Shows for generating
money. The next part is to make these Aamar
Nijer - My Own Shows very popular and in demand
so that we could take these shows to the various
schools and colleges to the young people. This
show would then be the mouthpiece of Aamar Nijer
- My Own and all its activities.
Young people are
the greatest assets of our world at all times
and they can make or break tomorrow’s world.
So this work is our main dedication to them.
We tried to do such
a show in August but had to cancel because firstly,
I didn’t have time for it as I was trying hard
to make things the best in the School for women.
Secondly I could not find anyone to organize
that show and do all the arrangements. Lastly
there was also a lack of Funds.
We also do Bindass
Shows, which are purely for rewarding ANTS
children for attending school and trying their
best, by giving them a day of pure fun. 'Bindass'
means to do what you want in the way you want!
Non-Stop fun! All children of ANTS have this
on the last day of each month.

NIJER SELF DEPENDANT VILLAGES
As anybody who knows
India in real terms knows that whatever is 'India'
or whatever is left of India is left in the villages
only. These villages in India are the places where
the true culture, traditions, values and all those
things, which one proudly says is “Indian”, still
survives. But the ‘Cross’ of modernization which
India has been carrying for quite some time now,
is basically carried on the back of the poor people
and these villages. All those people who are still
humble, sweet smiling, pure, true, capable and the
people with the roots of the traditional India.
The ‘good things’
of the modernizations are enjoyed by some rich people
of our world.. of course because they have worked
hard for it. But at the end of the day, it is the
villages and the simple-helpless-people who pay
for our quest for being ‘COOL’, more than we can
ever know!
This is not the case with just India only.
This is the way of the world, which would do anything
to be “modern”. Fighting to make a sterile-heaven for themselves;
and the weak, the meek, the simple, and the pure always suffer
the “REACTIONS”
of all the “ACTIONS” we make in our struggle for “HEAVEN”.
After all these years working with the people, who
are called the “POOREST OF THE POOR”, it has been
felt and realized that these people who are suffering
from all such poverty would have been much better
off, if they had not been dislocated from their
villages. ‘If only these villages were self-sufficient’.
When a village can
take care of itself and all the people who live
there, then they do not have to look towards the
cities and towns, which are actually the messy versions
of human inhabitance.
1. If the children of the villages are
educated properly and they get suitable work to
do there only.
2. If the villages can produce enough food for
themselves as well as enough to sell to get money
for buying other things which are not available
in that village.
3. When the local talents of the village
can have a proper market for pursuing their traditional
crafts.
Then they do not
have to depend on those rich investors from outside
who would buy their land, their culture, their traditions,
and their humanity and most importantly of their
Religion.
When these villagers
become strong inside and outside then they are more
capable protecting themselves from any external
threats of dislodging them from their villages to
the cities in search of money, jobs, educations
and “already uprooted” city charms. These are the
people whom we find in the streets as the “dying
destitute”, the beggars, the slum dwellers, etc
in our CITIES & TOWNS.
We at Aamar Nijer
- My Own know that it is a huge work, but we have
started something in our usual small way with big
dreams.
A village has already
been chosen and work had already been done for determining
their basic needs.
Priority Job Now: we have not started anything yet related to
this work besides making the initial groundwork
but as soon as we get some time, we will go to that
village and start.

making a CD available in the market. There are

which we are planning to record another 4 songs
to make a complete album and release it. These

AAMAR NIJER FASHION OUTLETS
The Zardozi work,
which has been started in the Aamar Nijer Training
School, is a job-oriented course. They make
things while learning that we will sell so that
they can learn and earn money and have the option
for a future job. The results are a warm feeling
of a hug that is Hand-Made & love inspired.
Then we will sell
it through our different fashion outlets. These
outlets will be dedicated to generate finances for
the various works of Aamar Nijer.

clothes in the most professional way expected in

AAMAR NIJER FEELINGS CARDS
A big work with great
Action and Love is happening at the ANTS and
with all the children related to the ANTS. It
is the making of the ‘Feelings Card’.
These children are
making these cards with their hands using whatever
talents they have in stitching or sketching
or painting or sticking beads to cloth. We then
paste these pieces of cloth on papers made by
hand. Then they will write a little about themselves
and then it will be sent to another part of
the world. There they will contribute something
to these cards while also writing something.
Then they will be sold and the money raised
will go into paying for these childrens' education,
for their future and also for all other activities
which Aamar Nijer - My Own will take up for
children and there needs.
Recently unemployed women have also been given
jobs making Feelings Cards.
