An
Ancient Story
This
is a story from the time of Moses, who is an equally
famous character in the Old testaments for people
following the Muslim, Christian and the Jewish religions.
But this story is so beautiful that it goes beyond
the boundaries of religion.
As
the story goes, this ancient character of Moses
was famous then for his capability of talking to
god. There lived a man during those days that would
pray all the day and at all times. He would just
sit in this particular place and pray and pray.
He would not even care for eating or anything else.
So,
god created a fruit tree near him, so that one fruit
would appear each day and he could pick it up and
eat it. But this man would not even get up to eat
the fruit either. So then god appointed a bird that
would break the fruit into pieces everyday and put
it piece by piece, into his mouth so that he could
eat that way. This praying man would consume the
fruit given in that way.
Then
one day Moses happened to be passing that way. The
praying man called Moses and requested him to ask
god something for him. He wanted Moses to ask god
if, since he must be god’s most favorite person
because he spends all his time praying to god, where
will he go after he dies? To which level of heaven?
He thought obviously to the top most level of heaven,
but still he wanted to be very sure of that. So
Moses promised him that he would ask this to god
next time he talked with god.
So,
Moses told god about the query of this praying man.
To this god said, “His place is not even in any
category of heaven, his place after his death will
be Hell.”
So
Moses went and told the praying man that god said
that his place was Hell. To this the praying man
said, “Ok, next time when you meet god tell god
that when I am sent to hell then I must be made
so big and huge that after me no one can enter the
Hell.”
Moses went and told the same to god and then god
said, “You go and tell him now, that his place now
is the top most level of Heaven.”
Moses
was all at a loss with the reply of god. He could
not resist the temptation and asked god, “why when
this man was dedicating all his life to praying
to you, you wanted to send him to Hell and now you
want to send him to the top-level of Heaven because
of his second request?
To
this god said, “Earlier he was all the time praying
and not doing anything as a human being is supposed
to do. Then I gave a fruit tree to him and he wouldn’t
get up to have the fruit and when I appointed a
bird to feed him, he would not even ask the bird
to have a little fruit for itself. He was so selfish.
That is not being a human being. For prayers I have
so many angels and if I need more prayers for me,
I will make more angels. So Moses, he deserved Hell
then. But when he told you to increase his size
so much in Hell that no one else can go there after
him, then he actually cared for other people. He
was ready to burn in Hell by himself and wanted
no one to come there. Then he really behaved like
a Human Being. Thinking and trying to do something
good for his fellow Human Beings. So now he will
be a part of the first category of Heaven.”
“If
I accept
to
be called a Human Being
then
I have to accept
another
Human Being who is in need
of
Love, of guidance and of my time.
This
may seem difficult
but
it is not
an
impossible qualification
towards
being a Human Being
or
else we are no better than wild animals.
This
is the reason why god created Aamar Nijer - My Own
so
that we at least have a CHANCE.”
